Today I am going to show you a fun glamourous twist on the classic pin-up makeup look, that is perfect for the Holiday Season!

It's such a simple and easy step! All you need to do is add a little bit of glitter along the top of the cat eyeliner! Whatever colour glitter you choose is really up to you, but I would suggest Gold or Silver since they are so sparkly!

Madam Glam is an amazing online nail lacquer company. They offer UV Gel polish, basic/regular nail polish as well as nail care like top and base coats, cuticle and protein treatments for your nails. They also offer nail wraps.

Their basic polishes start at $8.95 and their UV Gel Polish is $17.95. Free shipping on orders over $25 or when you purchase three or more polishes.

Below are some swatches of my favourite Madam Glam polishes.

Girls Night Out -
Pretty coral-pink with golden shimmer undertones. Super bright! Definitely one of my favourites of the bunch! So so pretty! Perfect for a pedicure as well! This one requires two to three coats for full opacity but, as with most of the formulas, it dries really quickly.

Cherry Blossom -
A creme bubblegum pink! The most pretty Barbie Doll pink you can imagine! This one only requires at most two coats. One almost does it! Most of my polish collection is made up of pink shades and this one is up there for best shade.

Sally Hansen has come out with a new amazing innovation for nail care.  Miracle Gel is a two-step, no lamp gel for your nails. It provides up to 14 days of colour and shine while still being easy to remove. With over 45 shades to choose from, you are sure to find one that matches your mood and style.

Step One is to apply two coats of the Miracle Gel colour. The amazing thing about it is that it has a base coat built right in!

Step Two is to apply one coat of Miracle Gel Top Coat. That's it! No light needed.

I used the colour "Pink Tank." This colour is my absolute favourite shade of pink . It is such a strong bold colour and the gel texture really adds just that something extra. It truly looks like professional gel without the cost of going to a salon or the need to purchase all the lighting, and other Gel products and accessories. Which makes it not only affordable but convenient.

The Miracle Gel Top Coat and Colour can be purchased together, or separately. They can be found wherever Sally Hansen products are sold and  cost $14.99

Here are some new summer shades from Nicole by OPI that are perfect to add some summertime flare! They have launched a new mini-polish collection for summer called "Seize the Summer." This new collection, comes in four fabulous bright colours: Lay it on the Lime, The Coral of the Story, LeaPink for Joy, and Shaved Nice.

Lay it on the Lime is a cool toned creme lime green. Not neon green, not mint. Somewhere lost in between this gorgeous colour was born. Very noticeable on the fingers however it did require three coats. This is my favourite polish from the collection!

Foundation 101

Foundation Tips and Tricks

Foundation should be used to enhance your skin, not cover it up. In fact, I don't like when people interchange the word "Foundation" with "Cover-Up." You shouldn't be "covering up" your beauty, but rather providing a flawless foundation for the rest of your application.

The right foundation should disappear when blended onto your skin. It is meant to even out our skin tones and to give the
appearance of a flawless complexion. It should never look or feel like a mask.

If your skin has a lot of oil, acne, scars or fine lines, you can apply a foundation primer first. It helps foundation glide on smoothly and keeps it from seeping into pores or wrinkles. It also helps foundation last longer as it gives it something to hold on to. I really like to use the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer on both myself, as well as my clients

What you use to apply your foundation will remain up to you. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to tools, formulas, etc. Test some different options out and you will be able to choose one that works best for you. Below I have listed some tips that will help you when selecting the right shade, formula and tools.

Daytime Smokey Eyes...Super Easy!

Casey B >> 3/01/2014 >>
Hey Everyone!

Today I have done a look that is so easy even the newest makeup addict can achieve it! All you need is:

  • Light Brown/Nude Eyeshadow (optional)
  • Medium Brown Eyeshadow
  • Dark Brown or Black Eyeshadow
  • A light white frosty (or matte!) Eyeshadow
  • Black Eyeliner
  • Mascara
This look is so easy because you are using shades that all blend well together to create a nice subtle wash of colour from lighter to dark. And because you are using medium and neutral browns, this look is so versatile! It can be worn to work, school, even a night out with your friends or on a date.

Roughles Collection by Nicole by OPI

Casey B >> 2/26/2014 >>

Hey Everyone!

Nicole by OPI is always coming out with new collections! That is why I love them. They never get bored of the same old thing. Always changing and trying to stay on top of the latest trends, if not creating them!

This Spring/Summer season they will be launching a new mini collection called Roughles. Its actually pronounced "Ruffles" but considering the texture of these gorgeous lacquers, its a fun play on words. Just like how they name all of their polishes and collections fun things.

Roughles is comprised of four new textured nail lacquers featuring speckled, pastel shades of purple, pink, turquoise and yellow. In love with all these colours! Perfect pastels for Easter/Spring! When they dry, they leave behind a fun and unique textured finish unlike any i've ever seen. The best part? No top coat needed!

Nicole by OPI products are great because they are of salon quality without the salon price. I've had my manicure on for four days now and not a single chip or need to touch up!

Rock the Look

Hey Everyone!

When I was younger, my hair was pin straight. In high school, I barely had to straighten it at all. A few minutes and it was good. Really healthy, but no life. My Mom however, had pretty beachy style waves and on most days, looked like pretty loose romantic curls.

When I reached my twenties, my hair (and nails, since they run on the same vitamins) began to change. I noticed it began to get more shape, more wave, move volume, more frizz. Straightening it became a chore because it almost doubled in time and if I stepped out into humidity or dampness, well then you can just forget about it! I began to get wavy, beachy curls, just like my Mom. Alas! So much less work and still looks pretty all. The. Time! It took a lot of trial and error trying out products that worked with my style, not against it. I figured out that I needed a creamy formula, not a crunchy drying one (think mousse hair circa 1989). I found one and I have been using it for years. You know what they say, "don't fix what ain't broke!"

Recently I had the opportunity to try out a new line from one of the pioneers of hair styling. Its called the 'Girls With Curls' hair line and it is new from Dippity-Do. Ahhh-mazing! So far, I have tried out the Leave-In Curl Defining Cream. I wanted to try each styling product out at a time (so everytime I wash my hair, I will try a new one) so I knew how each would react with my mane.

Enriched with natural Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Aloe and Vitamin E to calm and smooth frizz while nourishing and defining curls for springy, long-lasting bounce.

This defining cream is so nice! It smells amazing and although a light-weight cream, once applied to your hair, you can feel your hair changing. It feels very nourishing and wraps each strand. This defining curl cream is:

  • Colour safe, paraben free.
  • A beauty balm to nourish and style dry, frizzy hair.
  • Ideal for thick to medium, curly or wavy hair.
  • Humidity resistant, the specialized curl shaping polymers control volume and frizz.
  • Can be used on damp or dry hair to refresh style as needed.

Hey Ladies!

For Christmas this year (I mean, 2013) I purchased myself a haul from Sephora. In that haul, I grabbed the Beauty Blogger Darlings Set in which the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Medium Matte Bronzer came. I was so excited!

FOTD | Wild Vines

Casey B >> 1/08/2014 >>

Today I was feeling like I wanted to do something different than what I have been doing for years. I wanted to do a pictorial. These seem to be growing ever more popular, especially on Instagram. Although I just purchased a nice new video camera, I feel this the route I want to try for a bit. I enjoyed it (just as much as filming live) but I felt I could focus more on what I was doing and the art behind it. Here is my very first pictorial, and I hope you enjoy!

The very first step, which is uber important when doing any makeup look, is beginning with a base or primer for your makeup. This helps make it last longer, and it also prevents a lot of the creasing that can happen when using eyeshadow.  I really like MACs Prep and Prime for eyes.
The next step is to add a light shimmering champagne colour over the first half of my lids, and then follow that by dusting a beautiful rose hued pink over the remainder of the lid.
Sometimes, when creating a smokey eye, the edges of the eyeshadow can become harsh and very noticeable. To combat this, I like to use a fluffy brush with a nude eyeshadow and blend around the edges (Pic 1). Once that is complete and looking fabulous, I pick up another fluffy brush with a darker hued rose pink, and begin working that into the outer corner area, blending gently toward the crease.
I used the same fluffy brush and picked up a deep purple and gently swept that from the outer corner into the natural crease. You can find your natural crease by feeling your eye socket. Its the little hallow space below your brow bone. Once the darker colour has been added, I like to add a highlight and blend the outer edges again with a super fluffy brush. To do this, rather than sweeping the brush, I just pat it around the edges.
For the lower lash line, I simply swept that second hued rose pink I used, along the bottom and then went over it with the deep plum purple. This creates a nice shadow effect and really makes the deep purple pop.
For the upper lash line, I decided to make it a bit more stand out and added a nice bold thick cat eyeliner followed by two coats of Mascara. And voila!

Primer - Applying primer in the fall is crucial because it helps to eliminate dry patches and smooth out your skins texture.

Foundation/Powder - If you use foundation or blush, when the weather turns cooler, you should opt for more cream and liquid products.

Powder products can be extra drying during the cooler months. If you use it to set your foundation or prefer to use powder products, be sure you are moisturizing before your day starts and during the night while you sleep. Also, drinking lots of water always helps too!

Eyes - For the eyes, jewel tones in berry, emeralds and navy are perfect for this time of year. Smokey looks in golds and chocolate browns look great as well. If you don't already, think about adding a rich eye cream to your skin regime for at night. It's also a good idea to look for mascara with conditioning formulas to help keep lashes looking perfect.

Lips - Keeping your lips hydrated in the fall/winter is so important since lips can get really dry and chapped. During the day, keep a berry stained lip balm or colour-free lip conditioner to put in under your lipstick or gloss. Before bed when applying your face cream, go over your lips too. Also, try putting on some conditioning lip balm before heading to bed so it has a chance to absorb.

Above all, it is really important to attain a well rounded skin regime and to drink a lot of water. See my blog post on Winter Skin Tips for more.
